Dutch Holiday Home - 'House of the Year' Frame Awards 2019

With a floor plan of just 55 m2, this house still has a luxurious feeling of space.

This compact house was built for a family of four, including a living room, a kitchen/dining room, a patio, three bedrooms and three bathrooms.
The layout was developed from the inside out, and the intelligent arrangement of functions makes use of every m2. Situated near a lake, the building's positioning is related to views of the surrounding water and orientation to the sun.
On the outside, the diversity of size and positioning creates a sculptural image, looking different from every angle. In order to intensify this sculptural quality, all facades have a minimalist design, with invisible roof ends and detailed window frames behind the wooden facade.
The house has large windows or sliding doors that can be opened completely to merge the interior with the exterior. Inside, the dimensions and different ceiling heights clearly articulate the areas and functions of the house. Custom furniture and integrated cabinetry accentuate the graphic quality of the interior.
Every aspect of the design has been addressed to produce a pure, unified experience to leave a strong impression.
