Dedar fabrics – from the brand owned by siblings Caterina and Raffaele Fabrizio – are now part of the Vitra Home Selection.
The story of this connection dates back to Raffaele’s youth. He was 23 years old and studying architecture at the Politecnico di Milano when he first visited the Vitra Campus. There, he saw works by Herzog & de Meuron, Frank Gehry, Tadao Ando, and Zaha Hadid up close. “For young architects, it was like entering a dream. We crossed the Alps in an old red Alfa Romeo – sun in Italy, snow in Switzerland,” he recalls.

Now, Dedar is part of the Vitra Home Collection, bringing new energy to some design classics. To celebrate this partnership, Vitra has 'dressed' two iconic Jean Prouvé pieces – Fauteuil Direction and Fauteuil de Salon – with Tiger Mountain, Voulez-vous, A Perfect Flower, and Karandash fabrics.
Founded in 1976 by Caterina and Raffaele’s parents, Dedar was born from a desire to do things differently, always with immense respect for quality, combined with curiosity, modernity, and creative freedom. In the 1990s, the siblings joined the brand, which then had only 15 employees. Today, the team numbers around 200.
The turning point came when architect Jacques Garcia chose Dedar fabrics for the Hotel Costes in Paris – a project that marked the aesthetic of the 1990s.
