Home Stories For Winter - Vera Köller and Lukas Cober

It is in a renovated former miner's house, near Maastricht, that Vera Köller and Lukas Cober live. This is also the starting point for another edition of Vitra's Home Stories for Winter. She is a surgeon, he is an artist and product designer.

Built into the rock near the mountain, the house retains vaulted ceilings, old doors, and even direct access to the caves. The fact that it is on the edge of the forest was one of the elements that immediately captivated Vera and Lukas.

The splashes of colour are her choice, such as the yellow staircase, while he values that each piece in the house has meaning, with materials playing an essential role. The result is a house with history, where past and present meet through countless design pieces.

"Either we design our own furniture or we choose pieces for the material and the feeling they convey. Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything. It has to have a personal touch and a certain lightness," Lukas Cober
