´Stairway to Nowhere´exhibition - Flos & Michael Anastassiades
On the stage of the Kestner Gesellschaft in Hannover, the exhibition focuses on the Bauhaus, the influential school of art, architecture and design, on the occasion of its 100th anniversary.
Installations, sculptures, fabrics and collages by Goshka Macuga are on view throughout the building. The artist also collaborated with lighting designer Michael Anastassiades to create new work specifically for this exhibition. Anastassiades' drawings often emphasize the interaction and dialogue between light design and its social and spatial surroundings.
While today the Bauhaus is often seen as a coherent entity, as a design brand, Macuga seeks to artistically demonstrate the changing ideological positioning and political instrumentalization of the Bauhaus from a historical and current perspective.
The exhibition is on display until August 4th in Hannover, Germany.
