A legend in design: Marcel Breuer

This April we return to the topic that is always very close to our hearts in Paris: Sete: Authentic design and the names that helped to enhance it and that created the iconic designer pieces that we proudly represent.

We now present Marcel Breuer , one of the great masters of modernist design and architecture . The designer who brought a new perspective to interior design, a more rational expression, which was marked by the use of tubular steel in his pieces and by geometricism.

Inspired by making his own bicycle, in the 1920s, while he was still studying at the famous Bauhaus school, he created the Wassily chair , which was the kick-off on his journey into furniture design, which was followed by the Laccio tables and later when teaching at the Bauhaus, he created the Cesca Chair by inserting straw into the already used tubular steel.

What marked this designer and made his pieces a reference was undoubtedly the furniture design, but what motivated him was the architecture that only gave him notoriety later.

Today, his designs are still as current as when they were conceived, they have surpassed fashions and with remarkable resistance and timelessness, which adapt to any style of environment.

You can still find Wassily , Laccio and Cesca today from the official manufacturer, the Knoll brand, which Paris:Sete has represented for many years.
