A casa de campo de Eva Chen

Eva Chen's country home

At first glance, a country house 'calls for' a rustic interior style, but it doesn't always have to be that way. Eva Chen, author of children's books, and her husband Tom Bannister, open the doors of their Connecticut home in the United States, to show that it is possible to have a comfortable and elegant space in the midst of nature. Having worked with interior designers Heide Hendricks and Rafe Churchill, the couple from New York wanted a touch of urban sophistication to contrast with the surrounding environment. "It's funny, many people would expect a rural space to have a lot of rustic furniture. I love the contrast of living in the middle of the forest and having a sophisticated environment alongside this organic and natural scenery," says EVA Chen.

The Camaleonda sofa from B&B Italia takes centre stage in the house's largest room, with its inviting and timeless structure. "The Camaleonda adds so much to the space. It's chic, but it's extremely comfortable," says Eva. For Heide, the chosen fabric "is perfect for Eva's family. It's a beautiful grey velvet, which will last decades and won't look outdated anytime soon."
