The story of String

Most of the time it is the simplest ideas that last over time and the String system is an excellent example of this. Born from a competition launched in 1949 by a public library in Sweden, the system perfectly responded to the challenge of creating an accessible shelf, easy to assemble and transport. Nisse and Kajsa Strinning won the competition with a flexible, elegant and minimalist shelving system that can be set up in any space. The String was an immediate success and became a regular fixture in Swedish homes in the 1950s, also being installed at the UN headquarters in New York in 1952 and winning the gold medal at the Milan Triennale two years later.

Despite the initial success, production of String shelves ceased for several years and only in 2004 did the brand gain new life and the identity we know today. The brand's rebirth was marked by a new creation by Nisse Strinning, the String Pocket , a miniature version of the iconic system, which allows you to store small books, plants and decorative objects. Over the years, String has evolved to respond to the new needs of homes and offices, and today is one of the systems that offers the most versatile and adaptable solutions to all types of spaces and situations. With the String system it is possible to create compositions for the living room, kitchen, bedroom, office and even outside. Come to Paris:Sete to choose a String solution that adapts to your space.
