USM evolves with life

The great advantage of USM modular furniture is that it evolves with life, as Ed and Barbara Parker can attest, adapting their furniture to their family's needs. When USM first visited the couple's Brooklyn home in 2015, they didn't have children yet, which meant space was more abundant inside the apartment, where two USM furniture pieces were placed, one for the television and another for Ed's extensive vinyl collection.

With the arrival of the couple's children, the house was renovated and the Swiss brand's furniture also had to adapt. Having fallen in love with USM while studying in Switzerland, Ed knew that one day he would make use of the modularity and sustainable design of the Haller system: "I often imagined transforming it if we ever moved, as furniture for filing or storing other things."

The combination of the two previously existing pieces of furniture and the addition of some new pieces allowed for the creation of a large multimedia element for the Parker's living room, serving as a place to store books, vinyl records, and house the television and sound system. "There's something special about good design in terms of details, materials, and quality that brings pleasure," Barbara concludes. "It has become a prominent presence in our living room."
