Discover Irenie Cossey's home

Interior designer Irenie Cossey's home is a reflection of the memories she has collected throughout her life. "I have an obsession with collecting objects. I think I'm subconsciously trying to frame individual moments and freeze things in time," says Irenie. Originally from Dublin, the designer has an eclectic approach to her projects, something that is reflected in her London home.

"Design has been a part of my life since I was a child. I was always in my room drawing and making things. I think I'm analog by nature. As an interior designer, I need to see things through. When we moved here 14 years ago, I wanted to make my mark on the house. When I curate spaces, it's all about connections and layers. My home, like any other, is constantly changing. We change, the children change, the spaces change and we need to adapt to that."

With a mix of Vitra pieces like the Lounge Chair, Eames chairs, art pieces, travel souvenirs and design objects, the atmosphere of her home is a 'guinea pig' for her work as a designer. "My home is a platform for testing ideas. I might see a colour somewhere and keep it in mind and try to apply it to fabrics, paints, samples, tiles in a new project. It's like making a fruit salad, mixing the sweet and the sour. I'm always looking for something unusual that stands out. There is always a common thread: something old and something new, found or renovated."
