Adeus Miguel Milá (1931-2024)

Farewell Miguel Milá (1931-2024)

Today we pay tribute to Miguel Milá (1931-2024), one of the great names in contemporary Spanish design, who passed away at the age of 93. The award-winning designer was known for his genius and inexhaustible curiosity, having been a pioneer from the beginning of his career.

Celebrating Mediterranean influences, Milá combined the rigour of industrial design with the craftsmanship of traditional production techniques. In the early 1960s, in an isolationist Spain dominated by Franco's dictatorship, the designer created some of his most iconic products, such as the TMM and Cesta lamps, despite the scarcity of materials and industry. A designer, inventor, and DIY enthusiast, Milá was a proponent of simplicity and the small pleasures that well-designed pieces bring to everyday life. "I'm not interested in objects that complicate things. Design should help," the creator stated.
