Eames Plastic Chairs RE

Eames Plastic Chairs RE

The Eames Plastic Chairs, created by Charles and Ray Eames, were the first industrially produced plastic chairs, making them one of the greatest design icons of the 20th century. Innovative in 1950, when they were first launched, the chairs are now at the forefront of sustainability, being produced exclusively from recycled plastic as of 2024.

This material originates from recycling collections in Germany, allowing for a reduction in emissions and energy consumption resulting from the production of this Vitra collection. The chair family, now called Eames Plastic Chairs RE, retains most of the existing colors, but due to the composition of the recycled material (where small pigment specks may be noticeable), Vitra has introduced some new shades such as Cotton White RE, Citron RE, and Emerald RE.
