Vitra's Moca chair is a prime example of British designer Jasper Morrison's "supernormal" design, which emphasizes usability, responsibility and a simple design language without unnecessary frills – yet always perfected to a T. Designed in 2020, Moca was made to last from generation to generation, both in terms of quality and its timeless aesthetic.
Moca’s frame consists of two metal tubes, one of which forms its back legs and the other its front legs as well as the backrest support. The seat and backrest are made of veneered plywood, which makes the chair light and therefore easy to move or stack. Peeking from under the chair reveals a discreet yet practical detail very typical of Morrison: the underside of the seat is covered by a useful protection that prevents the veneer surface from being scratched when the chair is stacked.
