The Plywood Group LCM Chair by Vitra is a member of a timeless series of chairs that Charles and Ray Eames designed in the 1940s. All chairs share an organic design, a comfortable plywood seat and back, and a beautifully molded metal frame . The letters LCM stand for Lounge Chair Metal.
The plywood and metal parts of the LCM chair are combined with rubber plates that make the frame strong and flexible, and also function as a buffer between the seat and the frame. The Eames were the first designers to use this technique on plywood chairs. The LCM chair is also known as the Potato Chip Chair, as its curved seat and back are compared to French fries.
