Vitra's Plywood Mobiles resulted from the plywood molding techniques of Charles and Ray Eames in the 1940s. The experiments led to free, organic shapes that playfully rotated around each other, and which the Eames hung like furniture from the ceiling. The Plywood Mobiles are also reminiscent of the art and graphics of Ray Eames.
The natural birch furniture was launched in 2021 in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Eames Office. The special edition of the furniture will be available for a limited time.
