Vitra's Standard SP chair, designed by Jean Prouvé in 1934, features a special metal frame inspired by Prouvé's engineering background. Since most of the user's weight is supported by the back legs of the chair, Prouvé decided to place large, hollow steel legs in the back and thin legs in the front of the chair. The seat of the Standard SP (Siège en Plastique) chair is made of robust plastic in a beautiful color palette.
